SoR: GR 7-12 Content Area Reading Strategies

We know all educators are passionate about the content they teach, but what do we do when our students can’t get to the content? This training is designed for non-ELA educators. We will consider what makes a text difficult, discuss general strategies to help students understand content area reading, explore strategies to use before, during, and after reading to help students understand content area reading, and finally, learn strategies to help the most struggling readers in your class with content area reading.

TESS components addressed include: 1A, 1E, 3B, 3C, 4E
