Day One/June 21, 2023: The FISHING IN THE NATURAL STATE workshop by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission teaches Arkansas's youth about basic angling skills, conservation activities, and the world of fishing. This program integrates lessons learned outdoors with multiple content areas, such as math, science and language arts. Attendees will have the opportunity to interact with the lesson materials and engage in hands-on activities. The FINS materials are designed for grades 4-12, and can be used as a resource in the classroom to support standards-aligned instruction and with other organized groups of students. Day Two/June 22, 2023: Explore Grandview Prairie and learn how to leverage the treasure trove of prairie phenomena to anchor units and spark student sense-making in the classroom. Engage in activities designed to ignite student curiosity, provide enrichment, and employ the use of the crosscutting concepts in the ELA and STEAM areas.
Both days of the workshop will be at the AGFC Rick Evans Grandview Prairie, 1685 CR35N, Columbus, AR 71831, (501) 214-1997. BRING YOUR LUNCH BOTH DAYS. Bring your device or use one of ours.
