Angela Chandler from the Arkansas Geological Survey will lead us in this two day session. On day 1, we will meet up at Greers Ferry Lake and board a pontoon and travel to the trail that leads to Sugar Loaf Mountain. (Some will meet up and travel from Arch Ford together.) There we will gain knowledge and insights from Angela on the geology of the area. On day two, we will meet at Arch Ford and do the classroom follow-up to the phenomena observed on the field trip on Day 1. Schedule subject to change based on weather. Please be aware of the physical activity required in hiking Sugarloaf Mountain.
The cost of the tour will be $13.95 per person, payable to the marina not Arch Ford the day of the session for the shuttle. We will be shuttled to the mountain on two pontoon boats with a maximum of 20 folks, 10 per boat. Once we get to the island, a short hike will take us to the top. This will be strenuous in the summer, but we will only spend the two hours there for the regular tour. Teachers will need to wear comfortable shoes that they can hike in and need to pack a lunch, water, sunscreen, bug spray, etc. Bring cameras! The view is spectacular as well as the phenomena.
