NAESC - The Professional Learning Series for PK-8 on the new AR Math Standards for Concept and Skill Mastery

Session 1 on June 22 will focus on developmental instruction and learning for Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten through 2nd grade, Operational and Problem Solving Success for Grades 3-5 and Algebraic Reasoning and Problem Solving grades 6-8.  The approach will be aligned to the new Arkansas standards for grade-level mastery with emphasis on instructional planning and pacing.

Current curriculum and High-Quality Instructional Materials will be the resources presented and used with creating Pacing Guides.  A special feature for instructional delivery will be an instructional workstation model created, piloted and with data evidence for building fluency, developing concepts and establishing foundations for problem solving success at all grade-levels. Monitoring growth and evaluating problem-solving is based on the four strands of Mathematical Proficiency: Understanding, Fluency with Accuracy, Problem Solving Representation and Strategies, and Communication with Mathematical Discourse. Eighth grade teachers will have a choice of attending these sessions for PK-8 or attending the Secondary Mathematics session.
