DSC “If You Can’t Manage Them, You Can’t Teach Them”-Session for Elementary Teachers

Everyone agrees that classroom management is necessary to success, but how do teachers get there? Why are some so much better at it than others? Are there known behaviors teachers can learn/develop that will make them better managers? Yes, there are four predictable skills teachers need for effective classroom management.
-The ability to develop good relationships with their students (and parents)
-A projection of confidence in setting and maintaining order, that commands respect
-Establishing procedures that allow for “smooth sailing” and prevention of problems
-Establishing a layered, reasonable consequence plan for misbehavior
The session will address each of the Four Basics, focusing on the “HOW To” of the following:
Positive relationships--How to develop them, Who's in charge? It's your right and responsibility to run the show, Respect-give it to get it, Bell rings...Go!, Expectations, routines, engagement (and the under emphasized, but so important "direct talk"), Consequences and follow-through
