AFESC-Math DOK Matters: Increasing the Rigor of your Classroom

Are your students having trouble with the rigor of your math curriculum? Needing to raise your classroom assessment math scores? Depth of Knowledge is one of the most highly used indicators to developing state assessment as well as high quality instructional materials. DOK reflects how deeply students think and know mathematical knowledge. In this session teachers will come to understand the Hess/Webb DOK Framework as a tool for evaluating instructional materials, developing rich mathematical tasks, posing meaningful mathematics learning opportunities, and aligning classroom performance with summative state assessment. DOK is the key to increasing the rigor of your mathematics program. Educators should bring access to their mathematical curriculum and tasks being utilized in the 2023-2024 school year in addition to a portable device, writing utensils, and comfortable attire to wear.

This session will address instructional strategies most appropriate for the following levels of instruction:

Tier 1, Tier 2
