GFESC What's in the Water? Exploring the Water quality on a boat tour of Lake Ouachita.

Join us on a barge tour of the lake as we explore the stream and water quality of the region through the collection and id of macroinvertebrates. Participants will investigate the quality of the stream environment through the use of the biotic index. The biotic index is a scale which indicates the type and abundance of organisms in a representative sample of the environment to assess the quality of freshwater ecosystems. Designed for the high school environmental teacher, this course can be adapted to all science instruction. Elementary and middle school lessons will be provided for teachers in lower grade bands.
