AFESC-Hot Topics in the Legal World Related to Schools and Special Education



Karen Haase is a national speaker on legal issues and has a wealth of knowledge and experience in Special Education law. She will be discussing the legal requirements most pertinent to administrators, including Special Education, as well as what she's seeing in the courts, hot topics, and more. This is a great session for all administrators and Special Education personnel interested! Karen has been practicing school law for 23 years and has extensive experience in, comprehensive knowledge of, and heartfelt devotion to special education law. She has tried half of the special education due process cases in Nebraska over the past fifteen years and is a national speaker on special education. She has presented at LRP’s national conferences, including their National Institute, their Special Education Directors Summit and others. Karen has taught at the high school, community college and university levels. She is the author of numerous articles published in various academic journals. In addition to speaking on education law topics nationally, Karen loves speaking to students, staff, administrators and board members about the issues facing schools in Nebraska.

Current educators in Arch Ford PD Consortium districts may attend the session for free.  All others will be required to pay the session fee on the day of the session. Arch Ford educators receive priority for seats in a session.
