AFESC-Stress & Resilience, Compassion Fatigue, and Positively Powerful with Cook Center
This session will consist of 3 separate mini-sessions taught by experts from the Cook Center for Human Connection. See below for the descriptions of each! Positively Powerful: It is so easy to get caught up in negativity; from our personal lives to our work environments, even the daily news feeds us one negative thought after another. According to experts we limit ourselves in every aspect of our lives if we give negative thoughts too much power! In this session we focus on how language and environment affects our mood and the mood of those around us, while sharing practical ways to bring more positivity into the classroom and into our personal lives. Stress & Resiliency - Hands-on This interactive session includes hands-on group rotation activities, lively discussion, and breakout sessions. Your group will have a greater awareness and recognition of stress responses, warning signs, and trauma sensitive environments. We will emphasize healthy practices such as: self-care, acts of encouragement, and managing stress. Minding Your Health: Compassion Fatigue Together we will focus on understanding your mind, as well as the cost of being in a caring role, which causes compassion fatigue. Being aware of your emotional, psychological, physical, and behavioral health will help you understand how to be more resilient. Participants will leave with a Compassion Fatigue Resiliency Guide that can be used in their personal or professional life.
Important Session Information:
