NEA - R.I.S.K. Training



R.I.S.K. (Recognition of Impairment from Substances in K-12) is a comprehensive training program designed to educate school personnel, healthcare providers, and stakeholders about substance abuse in the K-12 school setting. The training provides an overview of common substances, their effects, and the signs and symptoms of impairment. It emphasizes early recognition, intervention strategies, and structured protocols to support students at risk.

Purpose:

The primary goal of this training is to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to identify and respond to substance abuse among students. This includes:

  • Understanding the risk factors that contribute to substance use.
  • Recognizing the categories of drugs and their physiological and behavioral effects.
  • Learning the different routes of administration and their impact on the body.
  • Identifying signs of impairment to facilitate timely intervention.
