DSC From Chaos to Calm: Moving Beyond Punishment to Solve Your Toughest Classroom Behaviors
"Have you ever stood in your classroom and wished for a magic wand? You are not alone. Dealing with challenging behavior is often the number one concern of educators nationwide, yet we constantly find ourselves repeating the same ineffective responses.
The problem is the gap between a student's biological and environmental needs and the support available in the classroom. When medical and special education teams can't provide a formal diagnosis, the classroom teacher is left flying solo—punishing the surface behavior instead of assessing the root cause.
From Chaos to Calm is the solution. This essential professional development places you in a better position to respond effectively to inappropriate behaviors by bridging the gap between research and practice.
We will synthesize neuroscience, mental health data, and special education principles to focus on:
The WHYs: Understanding that a child’s behavior is rarely contrived to ruin your day, but is a cry for help rooted in factors beyond their control.
The WHATs: Identifying the specific skills a child needs to learn in order to succeed.
The HOWs: Giving you a step-by-step approach to prepare for the realities of 'in-the-moment' behaviors.
