NWAESC(2095)-Trauma Informed Teaching Practices

Do your students have resilience? Up to two-thirds of U.S. children have experienced at least one type of serious childhood trauma, including abuse, neglect, natural disaster, or experiencing or witnessing violence. Traumatized students are especially prone to difficulty in self regulation, negative thinking, being on high alert, difficulty trusting adults, and inappropriate social interactions. They often haven't learned to express emotions healthily and instead show their distress through aggression, avoidance, shutting down, or other off-putting behaviors.Teachers who don't understand the root cause of the student's behavior can expect misunderstandings, ineffective interventions, and missed learning time.

Learner Objectives-

*How to identify resilience in your students

*Learn to identify traumatic behaviors in students

*Create a consistent classroom structure

*Teach students self-care and learn self resilience strategies for educators
