SCSC - Arkansas Dyslexia Essentials: What Every Educator Needs to Know
Arkansas Dyslexia Essentials is a comprehensive professional learning experience designed for all educators—including classroom teachers (K–12), special educators, administrators, instructional coaches, counselors, interventionists, and support staff. Dyslexia impacts students across grade levels and content areas, making it essential that every adult in a school community understands how to recognize characteristics, respond appropriately, and support student success.
This professional development builds a shared understanding of dyslexia grounded in current research and Arkansas law. Participants will learn how dyslexia affects learning, how it presents across ages, and how effective instruction, screening, classroom accommodations, and interventions work within a multi-tiered system of support. Emphasis is placed on practical strategies that can be implemented in any classroom, regardless of subject area or role.
Whether you are teaching literacy, math, science, electives, or leading at the building or district level, Arkansas Dyslexia Essentials equips educators with the knowledge and tools needed to ensure all students—especially those with dyslexia characteristics—are identified early, supported effectively, and given equitable access to learning.
TESS components addressed include:
1A, 1C, 2A, 2D, 3A, 3B, 3C, 3D, 3E, 4A, 4B, 4C, 4E
