SCSC -K-2 Writing



This session will focus on the importance of writing instruction in the K-2 classroom. We will examine handwriting and its influence on student writing and composition. Participants will learn about the research on handwriting and how it relates to student performance and skill mastery. In the second part of the day, we will focus on directly teaching sentence level comprehension and writing. Participants will engage in grade level topics and texts in order to develop sentence level writing activities to take back to the classroom. This session will be applicable to any K-2 teacher using any curriculum. TESS components addressed include: 1A, 1D, 1E, 4E

Important Session Information:


For member districts of the SCSC Professional Development Consortium, the fee has been waived. If you are not part of the SCSC PD Consortium, you may be charged a minimum of $20 per day for any training even if the fee listed is zero.  Districts that have not paid for nurses and/or paraprofessionals will pay the listed fee. In the event of cancellation, registrants will be notified by email (address tied to escWorks). Participants are not allowed to bring guests (such as children or spouses) to any training.
