GFESC Counselor’s Compass: Inspiring & Guiding Student Success



With the implementation of the LEARNS Act and the new Arkansas School Report Card, schools are focusing on strengthening Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs to meet evolving expectations. This professional development session will provide counselors and administrators with practical strategies to enhance career pathway instruction, develop Student Success Plans (SSPs) across H2 and non-H2 pathways, and structure CTE programs to ensure student achievement.
Participants will: Explore early career pathway instruction strategies to engage students in career exploration and planning. 
Learn how to build and align Student Success Plans with readiness measures and demonstration requirements.
Examine opportunities to integrate advanced academics into CTE pathways.
Review key elements of course stacking, transition rules, and size–scope–quality standards.
Gain guidance on analyzing and refining existing programs to enhance outcomes.
Receive up-to-date information on CTE changes related to SAMS and reporting requirements.
This session equips counselors with the knowledge to sail forward into the 26-27 school year.
