OUR Youth Mental Health First Aid



Youth Mental Health First Aid teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among children and adolescents ages 12-18.  You will learn:

  • Common signs and symptoms of mental health challenges in this age group, including anxiety, depression, eating disorders and attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD).
  • Common signs and symptoms of substance use challenges. 
  • How to interact with a child or adolescent in crisis.
  • How to connect the youth with help. 
  • Expanded content on trauma, substance use, self-care and the impact of social media and bullying

This course meets the PD requirements for teen suicide awareness and prevention, and youth mental health, for Arkansas Educators.
Course paid for and sponsored by the Arkansas Department of Education ARKANSAS AWARE.



Important Session Information:


A minimum of 5 people is required for the session to be held.  This course is in-person at OUR.

Participation for the entirety of the course is required to receive certification.  
Participants must follow directions to complete both pre and post tasks on the Connect MHFA site.

Youth Mental Health First Aid is an international program listed in the National Registry of Evidence-based Programs and Practices (NREPP).
