AFESC-Aligning Instruction and Access: Special Education Updates



Discover how Meaningful Access shapes opportunities for students with diverse learning needs. Beginning in the 2026–27 school year, Arkansas will implement significant changes to how students with disabilities access instruction, earn credit, and progress toward graduation, including course-code additions and phased content-licensure requirements outlined in the Meaningful Access Implementation Timeline. We’ll explore why these changes matter now and what they mean for schools and districts. Participants will also examine the federal 1% alternate assessment threshold and how it informs local decisions. You’ll leave with a clear understanding of how courses, assessments, and daily instruction work together to support graduation pathways and real student success.

Important Session Information:


Current educators in Arch Ford PD Consortium districts may attend the session for free.  All others will be required to pay the session fee on the day of the session.  Arch Ford educators receive priority for seats in a session.
