SCSC - Aligning Instruction and Access: Special Education Updates

Discover how Meaningful Access shapes opportunities for students with diverse learning needs. Beginning in the 2026–27 school year, Arkansas will implement significant changes to how students with disabilities access instruction, earn credit, and progress toward graduation, including course-code additions and phased content-licensure requirements outlined in the Meaningful Access Implementation Timeline. We’ll explore why these changes matter now and what they mean for schools and districts. Participants will also examine the federal 1% alternate assessment threshold and how it informs local decisions. You’ll leave with a clear understanding of how courses, assessments, and daily instruction work together to support graduation pathways and real student success.

Important Session Information:

For member districts of the SCSC Professional Development Consortium, the fee has been waived. If you are not part of the SCSC PD Consortium, you may be charged a minimum of $40 per day for any training even if the fee listed is zero.  Districts that have not paid for nurses and/or paraprofessionals will pay the listed fee.
