SCSC - TESS Pilot

ADE TESS Observation Training – Session Description
This training, hosted by the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE), is designed to strengthen instructional leadership and enhance the quality and consistency of teacher feedback across Arkansas. Centered on the Teacher Excellence and Support System (TESS) framework, the session equips instructional leaders with the knowledge and tools necessary to provide meaningful, standards-aligned observations that promote professional growth and improved student outcomes.
As part of ADE’s statewide Calibration and Credentialing Initiative, this training focuses on building a shared understanding of high-quality instruction and ensuring consistent application of TESS expectations across districts. Participants will engage in collaborative calibration activities, deepen their understanding of performance descriptors, and refine their ability to deliver actionable feedback that leads to measurable impact in classrooms.
This session is especially significant as participants serve as members of a pilot cohort. Their engagement, insights, and feedback will directly inform the statewide implementation of calibration and credentialing processes. The learning and collaboration that occur during this training will help strengthen consistency, clarity, and effectiveness in TESS implementation throughout Arkansas.
Through active participation, reflection, and professional dialogue, attendees will enhance their capacity to support educators, elevate instructional practice, and contribute to lasting improvement for students across the state.

Important Session Information:

For member districts of the SCSC Professional Development Consortium, the fee has been waived. If you are not part of the SCSC PD Consortium, you may be charged a minimum of $40 per day for any training even if the fee listed is zero. Districts that have not paid for nurses and/or paraprofessionals will pay the listed fee. In the event of cancellation, registrants will be notified by email (address tied to escWorks). Participants are not allowed to bring guests (such as children or spouses) to any training.
