In this session, teachers will explore printmaking as a tool for expressing identity through “personal geography,” which includes mapping experiences, culture, and values using layered imagery and symbols. Inspired by contemporary approaches to mixed media and layered storytelling, participants will create a print-based composition that reflects places, experiences, and influences that shape who they are. This process-centered lesson aligns with Arkansas Fine Arts standards and integrates SEL by encouraging reflection, self-awareness, and connection to the community. Adaptations for different grade levels will be included, along with strategies for making printmaking accessible in any classroom setting. Participants are welcome to bring any additional supplies they’d like to use; however, this is completely optional and not required for the workshop.
