SCSC - Built, Not Born: Teaching Executive Function Skills

Executive functioning skills—including organization, working memory, task initiation, self-monitoring, and emotional regulation—are essential for student success in school, yet many learners struggle in these areas. This interactive session is designed for K–12 general and special educators who want to build an understanding of executive functioning and how it impacts academic performance and classroom behavior.
Participants will learn practical, evidence-based strategies to support executive functioning through instruction, classroom routines, and targeted interventions. Educators will analyze real classroom scenarios, collaborate with colleagues, and leave with tools they can implement to better support diverse learners across grade levels and settings.TESS components addressed include: 2C, 2D, 3A, 3D
