NWAESC(2095)-Reducing Cognitive Load: It's time for a brain dump!
Scratch paper isn’t just a disposable tool for test day—it’s a year-round tool for building mathematical thinkers and reducing cognitive demand. In this session, we’ll reframe scratch paper as a two-part “Brain Dump” and “Work” space for students to organize ideas, make thinking visible, and problem-solve with confidence. Learn routines, modeling strategies, and classroom tips that transform scratch paper into a powerful habit for accuracy, persistence, and sense-making.
