DSC JET: A Fast-Paced Reading Intervention



Jet: A Fast-Paced Reading Intervention is a curriculum written by the staff of the Luke Waites Center for Dyslexia & Learning Disorders. It is a one-year, fast-paced dyslexia intervention intended to meet the needs of older learners identified with dyslexia. Jet was designed for: Individuals with dyslexia thirteen years of age and older. Small-group instruction with no more than 6 students in a group. Use by individuals trained specifically in Jet. Ideally, Jet is taught four days per week (60 minutes per day) or five days per week (45 minutes per day). Participants must have Jet materials purchased from Texas Scottish Rite prior to attending the training. This series of training days is 4 of 10. The other days will be held during the school year. 

The cost for the eight-day JET CALP training per trainee is $1,100.  JET kit (# J5000) should be purchased before the training by districts from the Scottish Rite Hospital for Children https://scottishriteforchildren.org/med/education/dyslexia/. Cost of kit:  $750  (trainee orders kit directly from Scottish Rite Hospital). If you wish to teach the curriculum interactively on your smartboard you will need to purchase the Interactive Files additionally for an additional cost of $50.  Prices are subject to change.  Each trainee will also need to purchase the Multisensory Teaching of Basic Language Skills by Birsh & Carreker (4th edition). 
Important Session Information:
1. YOU MUST PURCHASE YOUR MATERIALS FROM SCOTTISH RITE PRIOR TO TRAINING. The kit is not included in this training cost.  
2.  Bring all Teacher books and materials with you for training.
