CRESC- STEM in Action: The Math and Science of Archery
Join us for an engaging, hands-on STEM professional learning experience where mathematics, science, and engineering come together through archery. During this session, teachers will design and build a mini bow using popsicle sticks and investigate how changes in design impact performance.
Participants will test their bows by shooting them and collecting data on distance and accuracy. Teachers will then make adjustments to improve performance, applying concepts related to force, energy transfer, measurement, angles, and iterative engineering design. This activity models an authentic STEM project that can be adapted for classroom use to promote problem-solving, experimentation, and student engagement.
The session will take place at Jonesboro Shooting Sports Complex, where participants will have the opportunity to test their designs in a real shooting environment.
