OUR Utilizing Depth of Knowledge to Support Deeper Levels of Student Learning



Using the professional text Applying Depth of Knowledge and Cognitive Rigor: An Educator’s Guide to Supporting Deeper Learning by Karin Hess, participants will build a clear understanding of Depth of Knowledge (DOK)—including what it is, what it is not, and common misconceptions surrounding its use. The session will emphasize practical tools and instructional strategies that support deeper student thinking and learning across content areas. Participants will engage in activities that promote the intentional design of tasks aligned to varying levels of cognitive rigor, ultimately strengthening student engagement and promoting meaningful learning experiences.
