Effective teaching begins long before the lesson starts. In this professional learning session, teachers and principals will explore the foundational components of lesson internalization—what it is, why it matters, and how it impacts student learning. Participants will unpack the key elements of a well-internalized lesson, including standards alignment, use of achievement level descriptors (ALDs), purposeful assessments, clear learning targets, anticipation of student thinking, and intentional instructional moves.
In addition to building a shared understanding of the lesson internalization process, participants will have dedicated time to apply their learning by internalizing an upcoming lesson from their own curriculum. This hands-on work time is designed to support immediate implementation and strengthen instructional planning practices that lead to more focused, responsive, and effective classroom instruction.
