OUR 3D Relief Sculptures Using Cardboard

K-12 Art teachers will have the opportunity to explore cardboard relief sculptures. The project involves constructing a 3-dimensional sculpture on a flat surface. Using layers of recycled cardboard and various found materials, you will create a sense of depth and form. This project emphasizes texture and composition and can be either representational or abstract.

We will share a few examples and some contemporary artists.  While exploring different techniques, we will create examples for use in the art room.  This can be an opportunity to brush up on your skills or provide you with the skills to effectively teach several new art techniques to students.

We will supply basic materials, supplies and tools.  Feel free to bring small objects or extra unique cardboard pieces, or devices that you love to use with cardboard.  With the right tools, this project can be adapted for the lower grades, even kindergarten.  We will have at least three Chomp Saws for you to experiment with.  You will have the option of either painting or leaving the cardboard bare.
