CRESC-Agri-Innovations 2.0: Leatherworking, AI Design, and CNC Integration
Take your agricultural education program to the next level with this advanced, hands-on professional development experience that blends traditional leatherworking with cutting-edge technology. In this 2.0 session, high school agriculture teachers will expand their foundational leathercraft skills while integrating artificial intelligence tools for design and CNC technology for precision cutting and engraving. Participants will explore how AI can support pattern creation, customization, and efficiency, while CNC equipment brings consistency and scalability to student projects. Educators will leave with a completed, tech-enhanced leather project, along with ready-to-use strategies for embedding these skills into agricultural mechanics, agribusiness, and SAE opportunities. This training emphasizes rigor, real-world application, and alignment to modern industry practices, preparing students for both skilled trades and technology-driven careers.
Objectives:
-Apply advanced leatherworking techniques in conjunction with CNC cutting and engraving
-Utilize AI tools to generate, modify, and customize leather project designs
-Understand safety, setup, and basic operation of CNC equipment in an ag classroom setting
-Develop classroom-ready projects that integrate craftsmanship with emerging technologies
-Identify connections to agricultural mechanics, agribusiness pathways, and entrepreneurship opportunities
-Create opportunities for student engagement through real-world, project-based learning and SAE integration.
