SWAEC- MITS Personal Care Training

The Personal Care Training class fulfills the required practical training component -10 of the 40 total hours - for paraprofessionals seeking certification that enables the district to bill Medicaid for Personal Care services. This training covers the full certification process as well as all essential information the district needs regarding Personal Care billing. It is recommended that any RN responsible for writing care plans and supervising paraprofessionals who assist students with physical dependency needs also complete this training. The class is additionally beneficial for staff who oversee Medicaid billing and for LEA supervisors who need a thorough understanding of Personal Care billing requirements, processes, and documentation. Current billable Personal Care services include mobility, ambulation, hygiene, bathing, bladder and bowel needs, eating, and dressing.
