This session will introduce teachers to the core moves and templates from They Say, I Say—summarizing others’ views (“they say”), articulating positions (“I say”), and responding to objections—through modeled reading, guided practice revising student paragraphs, and peer review; participants will leave with classroom strategies (explicit template instruction, scaffolded release, mini-lessons, integration with content) and evidence of clearer thesis/argument structure, and will plan next steps to build a template bank, pilot a short unit, and collect student writing for assessment.
