OUR CTE New Teacher Training



This full-day professional development session is designed to equip new Career & Technical Education (CTE) teachers with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to launch a successful first year in the classroom. Participants will explore the power and purpose of CTE, learn practical strategies for classroom management, and gain tools to create engaging, standards-based lessons.

Key topics include:

The Power of CTE – Understanding the impact of CTE and what it means to step into this vital teaching role.
Classroom Management Essentials – Practical strategies for managing tools, technology, and student interactions.
Strategies for a Strong Start – Building a solid foundation with proven practices for teacher success.
Curriculum Planning Made Simple – Tools and strategies to design effective and engaging lessons.
CTSO Advising 101 – Guidance for starting and sustaining a successful Career & Technical Student Organization.
Participants will also benefit from networking opportunities with mentors, DCTE staff, and fellow teachers, building a supportive professional community.
This training is strongly recommended for all new CTE teachers by DCTE.
