SCSC -DIVE into Autism: Recognizing and Supporting Characteristics in the Educational Setting
"Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is the fastest-growing developmental disability and with that, districts are serving more students with autism than ever before. It is critical that school personnel have the knowledge and skills to recognize, identify, and support students with ASD within a timely manner to prevent and/or support potential behavioral, social, and communication challenges which may negatively impact overall outcomes for the student. This training is designed to help teachers and school staff recognize the core features of autism, including recognizing common barriers to communication, social interaction, and self-regulation as well as exploring evidence-based practices that support positive outcomes for students with autism.
In order for this training to be held, there must be at least ten (10) participants registered. The Arkansas Behavior Specialists are committed to making our events accessible to everyone. If you require accommodations, please email the BSS trainer as soon as possible.
TESS components addressed include: 1A, 1B, 2D, 3A, 3E, 4E
Important Session Information:
For member districts of the SCSC Professional Development Consortium, the fee has been waived. If you are not part of the SCSC PD Consortium, you may be charged a minimum of $40 per day for any training even if the fee listed is zero. Districts that have not paid for nurses and/or paraprofessionals will pay the listed fee. In the event of cancellation, registrants will be notified by email (address tied to escWorks).
