WDMESC: Effectively Using Student Work to Make Instructional Decisions

This session focuses on leveraging student work as a powerful source of evidence for instructional decision-making. Participants will examine authentic samples of student work to identify trends, misconceptions, and levels of mastery. Using NIET’s tools and protocols, leaders will practice guiding teachers through analysis that informs reteaching, differentiation, and planning for rigorous tasks aligned to standards. The day emphasizes how student work can drive PLC conversations, strengthen formative assessment practices, and support teachers in adjusting instruction in real time. Participants will leave with practical processes for integrating student work analysis into coaching, PLCs, and classroom walkthroughs to improve student outcomes.
