LHSD: CPI Day 2: Nonviolent Crisis Intervention with Physical Skills
Physical Skills teach the risk assessment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills staff need in order to confidently address escalating scenarios and choose the most appropriate form of intervention needed in each situation. Physical Skills provides staff with safe and advanced disengagement and physical intervention techniques to control the highest-risk situations involving dangerous behaviors. They also learn verbal intervention
strategies for situations that don’t require these advanced skills. By exploring the core concepts and principles of Nonviolent Crisis Intervention®, 3rd Edition Training, this program allows staff to minimize the use and duration of physical interventions.
