This educational activity, the School Nurse Academy, is a one-day professional development program designed to enhance school nurses' knowledge and skills in managing chronic conditions among school-aged children. It is a partnership between the Arkansas Department of Health, Arkansas Department of Education, and Arkansas Children's Hospital. The training includes sessions on diabetes management, leadership and professional boundaries, novice nurse development, and student mental health topics such as ADHD, anxiety, and depression. Through expert-led presentations and interactive discussions, participants gain practical, evidence-based strategies to support high-quality student care. Upon completion of this training, School Nurses will have increased knowledge of the management of chronic conditions and current treatments to provide safe, high-quality care for school-aged children in Arkansas. This activity provides contact hours for Arkansas school nurses as well as school nurses in border states. To obtain contact hours, you must attend the entire presentation and complete the evaluation at the end of the session. No relevant financial relationships were identified for any member of the planning committee or any presenter/author of the program content.
