Session Detail

Structured Literacy in the Elementary Classroom

In this training, we will look at what structured literacy is and focus on the foundational skills within structured literacy (phonological processing and phonemic awareness) that students need to be successful readers. We will also look at how these foundational skills connect with spelling/writing, vocabulary, and comprehension skills.  You will learn how to use a case study approach to analyze student needs and how having schemas/mental models in place to frame your thinking can help you select targeted instructional strategies that will make the biggest difference.
