Session Detail

Specific Interventions to Address Phonological Awareness Needs

During this training, we will learn specific teaching strategies and multisensory routines that can be implemented during reading MTSS time or small group instruction to address phonological awareness needs in our students.  Phonological awareness skills are necessary pre-reading skills students need to be automatic and proficient in.  We will learn new direct and systematic strategies to target the sequence of skills to build phonological awareness from early to advanced levels in students and look at how our screening data, progress monitoring data, and diagnostic tests should drive our instruction during intervention time in PA.  You will walk away with specific strategies you can begin implementing immediately and feel more competent in your ability to address these early reading needs in your students. This training will tremendously benefit PreK-2nd grade classroom teachers, special education teachers of all grade levels, reading interventionists of all grade levels, any classroom teacher at the elementary level that works with struggling readers during intervention time, and literacy coaches.
