Session Detail

Differentiation in the Elementary and Secondary Classrooms

This workshop is designed for both elementary and secondary teachers of any core content!  It is based on Carol Tomlinson’s book: “How to Differentiate Instruction in the Academically Diverse Classrooms”  3rd Edition.  We will dive into this book and learn how these practices can be used in both elementary and secondary classrooms regarding the content specific to your classroom.  You will learn the reason why differentiated instruction is important; how to set up and support flexible learning environments; how to plan differentiated lessons; and how to differentiate the content, process, and product of your lessons.  We all are teaching in academically diverse classrooms and we know we need to meet the needs of all of our learners in all of our classrooms.  You will learn ways to differentiate your instruction for your students who are more academically advanced as well as for your students who are falling below the benchmark on our universal screeners.  Come ready to learn how to begin differentiating in your classroom or fine-tune your differentiation skills!
