Resident Educator Mentor Academy - Day 1 and Day 2 - 5/26/2026

Resident Educator Mentor Academy Training is a hybrid event. New mentors to the Resident Educator Program are required to successfully complete the 12-hour Mentor Academy Training to receive state mentor certification. The Academy focuses on the role of the mentor and the critical components of instructional mentoring. Mentors are introduced to the essential content of mentoring to prepare them to support the instructional growth and development of Resident Educators. Strengthening Math Intervention in Grades K-3 (Day 1: Effective Math Intervention | Day 2: Using Our Tool & Framework) - 6/1/2026

Across Ohio, persistent gaps in early numeracy signal the need for more than isolated strategies, and they demand a coherent, research-informed system of intervention. This two-day professional learning experience is designed to equip district professionals with the knowledge and tools to implement effective K–3 math intervention practices and to confidently apply the Comprehensive Math Intervention Framework (CMIF), ensuring consistent, high-impact support for every student.

Day 1 focuses on best practices in math intervention within an iMTSS model. Participants will examine how mathematics fits within iMTSS, experience examples of strong core and intervention instruction, and develop a shared understanding of what effective Tier 2 and Tier 3 math support looks like. Through guided analysis and discussion, educators will identify evidence-based instructional practices and intervention strategies that address common learning gaps in early mathematics.

Day 2 introduces our Comprehensive Math Intervention Framework in depth. Participants will learn the purpose, structure, and standards alignment of CMIF and how it supports systematic intervention decision-making. Educators will explore how to use common screeners to identify which students need additional support and to determine appropriate entry points for diagnostic assessment. The day emphasizes practical application: administering and interpreting diagnostic and progress-monitoring tools, using data to inform instruction, and implementing targeted intervention activities in small-group or one-on-one settings through a user-friendly platform. Participants will receive access to use the tool for the 2026-2027 school year.

This session is intentionally designed for classroom teachers, intervention specialists, instructional coaches, and administrators responsible for Tier 2 and Tier 3 supports. Participants will leave with concrete tools, shared language, and a clear process for delivering timely, data-driven math interventions, ensuring more students are on track for success before third grade. All participants receive full access to the CMIF framework and resources.

Explicit Instruction: An Introduction to Core Practices for High-Impact Teaching - 6/8/2026

Ohio School Counselor Evaluation System Training - 6/8/2026

The Ohio School Counselor Evaluation System (OSCES) Evaluator Training will prepare an evaluator of school counselors for effective, high quality and consistent school counselor evaluation using the Ohio School Counselor Evaluation System (adopted by the State Board of Education in April 2016).

Evaluators of school counselors and the school counselors themselves are highly encouraged to attend together. To become a certified evaluator of school counselors in the State of Ohio, an individual must successfully complete this one day, 6 hour training, delivered by an OSCES State Trainer.

Upon successful completion of the training, a certificate of completion will be issued for verification.

The training will provide for better understanding of OSCES Framework and Model and allow practice of skills and sharing of resources and best practices in evaluations.

OTES 2.0 Full Credential Online Synchronous - 7/22/2026

The Ohio Teacher Evaluation System (OTES 2.0) Evaluator Training will prepare an evaluator of teachers, as defined by the role you serve in a Local Educational Agency (LEA), for effective, high quality and consistent staff evaluation using the OTES 2.0 Model. To become a credentialed evaluator of teachers in the State of Ohio, an individual must be properly licensed, or LEA approved as a peer evaluator, participate in the three-day state-sponsored evaluator training, and pass an online credentialing assessment.

Upon successful completion of the training (attendance for all three days of the training is REQUIRED), participants will have access to the online assessment.

The three-day state sponsored OTES 2.0 training will provide a better understanding of the OTES 2.0 Framework and Model, allow practice of skills such as scripting, evidence analysis/categorizing and coaching, and allow for sharing of resources and best practices in educator evaluation.

Orton-Gillingham Multisensory Reading Practicum I (An Online Course) - 8/17/2026

The Orton-Gillingham Multisensory Reading Practicum I Online encompasses 16 weeks of instruction, including 45 hours of lecture and a 12-hour practicum. The course focuses on the phonology, orthography and structure of the English language; takes a comprehensive look at how students learn to read and write; and helps teachers to recognize the characteristics of learning disabilities. What makes Hamilton County ESC’s program unique is the practicum: each participant is assigned to a Master Teacher who provides one-to-one coaching and feedback on the creation and teaching of 9 lesson plans custom-tailored for the student the participant is tutoring during the course. Using the Sibme platform, participants upload their lessons and videos of their instruction, enabling instructors to give specific feedback at point of need on both planning and implementation of OG methodology. The maximum instructor/participant ratio in any cohort is 8:1.

Orton-Gillingham Multisensory Reading Practicum II (An Online Course) - 8/31/2026

In this important Orton-Gillingham follow-up course, master teachers continue to coach teachers who have taken the Orton-Gillingham Multisensory Reading Practicum I ONLINE in implementing multisensory, structured language instruction. The course encompasses 45 hours of content as well as 54 lessons of multisensory teaching through lesson plans and samples of student work under the supervision of a master teacher over a period of at least 9 months, monitoring student’s progress. Using the Sibme Platform, master teachers will observe designated lessons and provide corrective feedback during the planning and delivery of these lessons. Participants will read and respond to the book, The Reading Mind: A Cognitive approach to understanding how the mind reads by Daniel T.Willingham. This course is required for Orton-Gillingham Certification.

Rethinking Disability and Mathematics: A 3-Part Book Study & Collaborative Working Series - 9/17/2026

Join us for a transformative three-part professional learning series centered on the groundbreaking work of Rachel Lambert. This is a collaborative book study and working space where we will explore the text to understand how to shift from a medical model of "fixing" students to a social model of removing systemic barriers. This learning will focus on empowering special educators with a deep understanding of the foundations of intermediate numeracy which will foster mathematical success for every student. The emphasis will be on the content knowledge needed to support mastery in students with essential skills in intermediate numeracy, such as place value, fractions, multiplication, division, as well as mathematical fluency. Time will also be spent exploring resources for effective intervention, assessment tasks for intermediate numeracy topics and reimagining math goals for Individualized Education Plans. Participants will engage in activities aimed at enriching their knowledge while also exploring effective strategies to support students in their learning journey.

Our Collaborative Approach

Each session will include:

Shared Dialogue: Facilitated discussions focused on the big ideas from the assigned chapters.
Math Practice: Trying out the specific routines and "low floor, high ceiling" tasks discussed in the book.
Applied Design: A hands-on workshop where you will use your own curriculum materials to create practical tools like redesigned lesson plans and asset-based IEP goals.
