This session will focus on gaining a thorough understanding of the critical social, emotional and academic needs that impact students of poverty. Participants will evaluate and examine critical Engagement Factors (Jensen) and ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences), that if fully addressed, can lead to increased social, emotional and academic success. A focus on research-based Instructional strategies to engage and motivate these learners will also be a part of this highly engaged learning experience. Information from leading experts in the field including, Eric Jensen, Carol Dweck, J.D. Vance, Glen Singleton, Ruby Payne and Robert Marzano will be included.
The session developer and facilitator, HCESC Consultant Gary Gardella, has had extensive and successful experience working with students of poverty as a teacher, principal and consultant.
