Understanding Trauma for Administrators

- Audience:  Administrators and District Leaders




Participants will:

  • Describe trauma and adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and the impact they have on student learning.
  • Recognize that compassion fatigue is a risk for staff members.
  • Understand how a systems approach reduces the negative impact trauma has on learning.
  • Provide a few strategies to staff to begin the journey of becoming more trauma informed.

Important Session Information:


Join Jason Haap, Kathy Kettle, and Katie Marshall to learn about the effects trauma and adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) have on brain development and learning. Understand the signs and symptoms some staff members may experience if suffering from secondary trauma or compassion fatigue. Hear how a systems approach is the best way to counteract trauma and create an environment that’s conducive to all.
