PRACTICAL TREATMENT STRATEGIES FOR PRESCHOOL & SCHOOL-AGE CHILDREN WHO STUTTER

- Audience:  Speech and Language Pathologists


Participants will:

  • Select and utilize effective treatment approaches for increasing fluency, reducing stuttering, and improving communication attitudes in preschool and school-age children.
  • Help children express their concerns about their speaking ability in a supportive atmosphere that will help them come to terms with their feelings and attitudes about stuttering.
  • Work with parents of children who stutter in a manner that will help parents contribute to their children's success in treatment and in other conversational settings.

Important Session Information:

This course will provide an overview of assessment and treatment strategies for children who stutter preschool through high school along with ways to work with parents, teachers and peers.

Presented by J. Scott Yaruss, PhD, CCC-SLP, BCS-F, F-ASHA - a world-renowned speaker, fluency specialist and researcher in the area of stuttering.

UNIVERSITY CREDIT: One semester hour of credit is being offered by Ashland University. Graduate credit will be granted upon completion of workshop requirements and full attendance at this event AND Increasing Oral & Literacy Skills in Low-Income Students with Language Impairments on October 5, 2018. Registration for this Ashland credit should be done at the workshop on October 5, 2018.

ASHA CEUs: This will be offered for 0.65 ASHA CEUs (Intermediate Level, Professional Area). 7:30 am-8:00 am Registration and Coffee/Tea 8:00 am-4:00 pm
