Re-thinking School-Age Language Intervention

- Audience: Speech-Language Pathologists Serving Students PreK-12




  • Identify the components of statistical learning and how to apply it to language intervention.
  • Create a language intervention activity based on newly learned principles of Speech-Language Pathologist input, metalinguistics, and statistical learning.
  • Apply the latest findings on working memory and metalinguistic language impairment to clinical practice with school-age students evidencing language impairments.

Important Session Information:


Research related to language intervention strategies will be shared. The influence of metalinguistics on intervention and applying the principals of statistical learning, highlighting the desired language pattern for the student to learn will be reviewed. Implementing targeted concepts into daily practice will be discussed and participants will create an intervention material based on learned concepts.

ASHA CEUs: This course will be offered for 0.3 ASHA CEUs (Intermediate Level, Professional Area).
