  • Develop a foundational understanding of what equitable instruction means for multilingual learners (MLs), recognizing the importance of asset-based mindsets and the intentional design of language-rich learning experiences that leverage students’ full linguistic repertoires.
  • Experience and analyze interactive approaches that promote peer interaction, collaborative thinking, and authentic language use.
  • Explore and practice research-based instructional models to support content understanding and language development simultaneously. They will learn how these strategies make academic language visible, explicit, and accessible to all learners.

Join Valentina Gonzalez—renowned expert in multilingual education, founder of Rooted Linguistics, and author of Equitable Instruction for English Learners in the Content Areas—for an engaging and transformative professional development experience.

This session is designed to empower educators to more effectively meet the needs of English learners in their classrooms. Valentina will model practical, research-based strategies that help teachers across grade levels maintain rigorous instruction and hold all students to high expectations, while also providing English learners meaningful opportunities to engage with content-area language and excel in academic learning. Each participant will receive a copy of her book to annotate and reference throughout the presentation.
