The Science of Teaching Reading Series (Virtual)
Phonics and Other Word Identification Strategies





This seven course series based on the Science of Teaching Reading framework explores key concepts in foundational literacy, including oral language, phonological awareness, word structure and analysis, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Designed for teachers, administrators, instructional coaches, and preservice teachers, each course dives deeply into the theory and practice of early reading skills and provides educators the tools to implement effective early literacy practices.

Important Session Information:



Learn all about phonics, including the six types of syllables, and other word identification strategies to help your growing readers and writers excel in word attack and spelling skills. This asynchronous virtual session will consist of independent work to complete before the live sessions. 

  • Independent Pre-Work: 2 hours 
  • October 13: Live Zoom (4-6 pm)
  • October 14: Live Zoom (4-6 pm)
