Texas Principal Evaluation and Support System (T-PESS) is the Commissioner recommended principal evaluation system for the state of Texas. This system assesses the principal’s performance in relation to the Texas Principal Standards.

The principal takes the lead in conducting the evaluation through the use of self-assessment, reflection, and input gathered from various stakeholders with an interest in the leadership of the school. This information provides a basis for goal setting and future professional development for the principal.

The updated rubric aligns with the Effective School Framework, Texas Principal Standards, Texas Instructional Leadership and T-TESS processes. Additionally, as a resource a rubric is available for Assistant Principal appraisal, You can find this at TPESS.org under the Resource tab
