How to Use Show Me How (3rd-5th) Online Course

This course covers the Region 4 Show Me How (grades 3-5) kit. Participants should have the Show Me How kit before beginning the course. The Show Me How kit is sold at www.region4store.com. The course demonstrates a sample of the 40 reading and writing lessons included in the kit. Show Me How is designed to explicitly teach the informational and persuasive genres, while demonstrating the reciprocal processes of both during Reading and Writing Workshops. Participants will explore the mentor texts used to teach the informational genre in reading. In addition, participants will go through the writing lessons that explicitly teach students the process of composing an expository piece on a self-selected topic. A complete model lesson demonstration is included in the training.
