Are you interested in adding another level to your story time? If so, this workshop is for you. Participants will be provided with tools and strategies to use when teaching children during story time. Reading aloud to children is the one component of balanced literacy, which builds the essential framework for early reading. During reading aloud teachers verbally interact with the class throughout the process. The process includes pre-reading, during reading, and post-reading activities to ensure the children understand and make connections with the story.
This workshop includes embedded videos, handouts and colorful patterns for interactive activities. Participants will learn about new tools that will extend their read aloud and engage all children. This make and take workshop will be based on the following books: Pond Circle, Little Quack, Near One Cattail, Turtle Splash, Bugs, Bugs, Bugs, and Ten Wiggly, Wiggly Caterpillars. Session and materials costs are partially funded through state or federal grants.
