Languages for All: Differentiation in the Language Classroom

Just how do we meet the needs of all our students in our World Language classrooms? Every learner has a unique profile of what he/she “can do” in each mode of communication (Interpersonal, Interpretive, and Presentational). Explore and apply the components of differentiated instruction in connection with strategies to develop every learner’s language proficiency. Experience differentiation in action and acquire templates and materials that are readily available to incorporate into daily lessons. Participate in a variety of activities that illustrate how easily our classrooms can promote an environment in which all learners thrive.

Outcomes:
Participants will
• build their background knowledge around differentiated instruction
• explore and apply tools and strategies for meeting the diverse needs of students in the World Language classroom
• analyze, adapt, and design differentiated activities for immediate use in their classroom.
