Ethics and Educationally Relevant Speech Services for the School-Based SLP





Providing speech services in the school-based setting is similar but also uniquely different than a clinical or medical setting. In all settings the licensed SLP must abide by their professional code of ethics. In addition, the school-based SLP must be proficient in the federal and state laws that impact special education services. How does the SLP communicate the ethical and legal considerations to parents, teachers, and administration when evaluating and making recommendations for services?. This session will provide a quick reference guide that can be used to support and explain the role of the SLP in the school-based setting to provide educationally relevant speech services. Ethics is included in this training and fulfills the ethics requirement by ASHA and TDLR to renew state licensure and/or ASHA certification. This session is partially funded through federal and state grants.

Important Session Information:



CE hours will be available for SLPs and SLP assistants that sign in before the speaker begins and stay for the entire session. Partial credit will not be available. This session meets the ethics requirement for SLPs and SLP assistants. Ongoing road construction around the Region 4 area may cause traffic delays. Please plan travel time accordingly. This session is partially funded through state and federal grants.
